Isn't it about time we have a Fair Tax (a single national retail sales tax)?

It scares me too a flat tax is so much better. The unfair "fair" tax is a just another way for those who save a large percentage of their money or spend it overseas to get a major tax cut and soak the middle cl. The present rediculously complex tax messes up everything for everybody. So 16% social security for everyone with no loopholes for the rich. Then a flat tax of 20% on everything earned above the poverty line. What is that about $20,000 dollars now?
