I'm having a problem with my chi flat iron?

I went to portugal April 2010 and had an outlet converter (because Europe and the US have different outlets) and plugged my standard Chi flat iron into the converter and waited for it to heat up. The light was on for five minutes before i went to begin straightening my hair, then, when i picked it back up to use it, the light was off and when i turned it off and turned it back on, it still didn't work. Is there anything i can do to fix my chi or is it just a lost cause? Thanks for your help =)
